Crab Cakes are one of those foods that can either be for dinner, as an appetizer, or even a sandwich. They taste amazing any way you have them and are really not a hard dish to make!
Ingredients:
~ 12 medium sized crab cakes or 24 minis
1 lb crab meat
1/4 cup of mayo
1 egg
1 tbsp fresh parsley (+ for garnish)
1 tbsp dijon mustard
2 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp old bay seasoning
1/4 tsp cayenne
3/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
olive oil spray
2 lemons sliced into wedges (optional for garnish)
Spicy Aioli
1 cup mayo
2 tbsp pickle juice
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp worcestshire
2 tbsp sriracha
2 cloves of garlic minced
Instructions:
Preheat Oven to 400F.
Place everything in a bowl (minus the spray).
Mix it up.
Form into Patties.
Place on a greased pan with parchment paper.
Put in the oven for 15 minutes.
Flip them and cook another 10 minutes.
If you want them crispier, place on broil for 2 minutes.
While they cook, make the aioli.
Plate, garnish, and enjoy :)
Tips:
Add a squeeze of lemon juice for some extra flavor!
You can use fresh, canned, or the crabmeat in the containers you find at the store! I like to do the recipe x 2 and use 1 lb of crab claw meat and 1 lb regular crabmeat.
If you don't like spicy, remove the cayenne from the crab cake and the sriracha from the aioli.
Try making your own mayo! It's so easy and tastes so good.
Make it a sandwich: slather the aioli on some buns and place a crab cake in the middle. Pair it with some french fries or chips.
